Grounded in motivational theory, Ahart reveals how organizational conditions shape commitment, retention, and initiative.
Ahart is a research and analytics firm that helps mission-driven organizations understand the conditions shaping motivation, performance, and retention.
Founded in 2019, Ahart has enabled hundreds of organizations to collected more than 2.1 million anonymous responses across a wide range of organizations, including K–12 schools, universities, nonprofit networks, and multi-site enterprises. This work has produced a growing knowledge base focused on how organizational conditions drive commitment, performance, and long-term stability.
Organizations rely on Ahart to move beyond fragmented feedback and surface-level engagement data. Using a single, theory-aligned instrument, Ahart reveals what people are actually experiencing, what drives outcomes, and where alignment is breaking down.
Ahart works with organizations committed to education, service, and performance—helping leadership teams move beyond perception to a clear view of the forces shaping trust, effort, and retention.

Dr. Steven Bourgeois is a researcher and practitioner working at the intersection of motivation science and organizational performance. His work is grounded in Self-Determination Theory and extends into applied measurement through the development of the Virtuous Motivation framework.
He has presented his research at international conferences in Amsterdam, Melbourne, Kiel, and Victoria, BC, and will present at the 2026 International Self-Determination Theory Conference in Geneva. His work focuses on how organizational conditions shape motivation, commitment, and performance across mission-driven contexts.
Dr. Bourgeois previously served as Executive Director of Research, Evaluation, and Instruction for a multi-campus network serving over 23,000 students, where he led system-wide analytics, accountability, and program evaluation. He has taught graduate-level coursework in research and motivation at the University of Texas at Arlington and the University of Dallas.
He is the founder of Ahart Solutions, a platform that translates motivation theory into clear, system-level diagnosis for organizations seeking to strengthen culture, retention, and aligned performance.

This scale reflects more than growth—it represents a deep and expanding understanding of the conditions that drive motivation, performance, and retention.
